Underfloor Insulation

Insulating your suspended timber floor and fitting insulation between the rafters is a great way to decrease heat loss without encroaching on the interior space.

This is most often done in conjuction with an IWI project however it can make a remarkable difference on its own.

The Process

Step 1.

The floor boards are removed to expose the joists below.

Step 2.

A breathable, wind-tight membrane is draped over the joists to create a cradle for the insulation. The insulation is then placed between the joists.

Step 3.

An airtight membrane is then put down over the top of the insulation before the floor boards are replaced.
